Women4Africa is a UK registered organisation focused on celebrating and empowering Africa and its women by supporting and celebrating their role in their communities via Conferences, supporting education and Awarding prestigious awards, recognitions and special honours on such women identified and nominated by the public.
On the 18th of May Lahd gallery was honoured to be part of “Women4Africa 2013”. Thousands of guests, with emblematic African attires, gathered at the great Kensington Town hall in London. The evening was conducted by the dynamic figure of HRH Princess Deun Adedoyin-Solarin of Nigeria who, as well as being a dedicated wife and mother, is an active member of the ‘community development & nation building’ approach. Internationally renowned individuals such as Sir Paul Judge, Eric Chinje, and Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin were among the speakers of the evening. As well as HRH Queen Naa Tsotsoo Soyoo of Ghana who gave out a most moving speech on the culture and traditions of Africa. Her majesty is the chairman of the UK joint Homowo Organising Committee, a trustee of Ghana Union, and a director of Lexidon Facilities Group but principally, she is a woman who has a vital and uplifting role in that part of the world. The evening was lively and stimulated with brilliant performances from the musician ‘Dele Sosimi’ (UK’s multiple award-winning Afrobeat Ambassador) as well as Comedian Funmbi, Artist Roucheon Iloyi and the brilliant Isossy Children Fashion Show.
Women4Africa was birthed from a 20 year desire and passion to see women honoured and appreciated in a celebratory way.
